How we handle data — yours, candidates', and the market intelligence we build our analysis on. Plain language. No filler.
GRW Talent is an Edinburgh-based engineering recruitment consultancy. The Hireability Engine is a free diagnostic tool that analyses job specifications and market data to produce a hireability score and recruitment plan. It is not a job board, a candidate database, or an automated hiring system.
When you paste or type a job spec into the Hireability Engine, that text is used to generate your hireability report. It is not stored permanently, not linked to your identity unless you provide an email address, and not shared with third parties. If you provide an email address to receive your full plan, we store that address and your associated job spec in order to send the report. We do not use it for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.
The Hireability Engine does not collect, store or display individual candidate data. All candidate-pool figures shown (e.g. "estimated reachable pool: 22–38") are aggregate market estimates derived from advertised job data and recruiter intelligence — not from any individual's personal data.
GRW Talent holds a separate candidate database for recruitment purposes. Candidates in that database have provided their information directly to GRW, given explicit consent for it to be used in job search and placement, and can request deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
The salary benchmarks, candidate pool estimates, and hireability scores produced by the engine are derived from:
None of this data identifies individual candidates. It is aggregate, statistical, and used solely for market analysis.
We analyse roles, job specs and market difficulty — never people or protected characteristics. We never automatically reject candidates. We never infer or target on the basis of protected characteristics. Candidate data is only ever used with the candidate's knowledge and consent. Human recruiters make recruitment decisions.
Specifically:
The Hireability Engine uses automated analysis to produce a hireability score and recommendations. This automation applies only to role diagnosis — the assessment of a job specification against market data. It does not apply to candidates. No candidate is automatically rejected, shortlisted, or evaluated by the system. All recruitment decisions are made by GRW recruiters.
In accordance with UK GDPR, we note that no significant decision about any individual is made solely on the basis of automated processing by our systems.
This website uses no third-party analytics or tracking cookies. Any functional cookies required for the tool to operate are session-only and contain no personal data. We do not use advertising trackers, social media pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at:
We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Email addresses provided to receive a hireability plan are retained for 90 days unless you request earlier deletion or opt in to further contact. Job spec data submitted anonymously (without email) is not retained beyond the session. Candidate data in our recruitment database is retained while a candidate is actively seeking work and for up to 12 months thereafter, unless deletion is requested.
GRW Talent is the data controller for personal data processed through this website and the Hireability Engine.
